The Department of Biology offers one undergraduate and two graduate courses in electron microscopy.

Principles of Electron Microscopy. Four semester hours, two hours lecture, six hours lab per week. Introduction to the biological applications of transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Prerequisites: senior standing with a major or minor in the sciences. Offered fall and spring semesters.

Bio 555

Biological Ultrastructure. Four semester hours, two hours lecture, six hours lab per week. Theory and practical application of transmission electron microscopy, with an emphasis on the ultrastructure of plant and animal cells. Course culminates with independent student projects. Prerequisites: graduate standing in a science major. Offered in fall semesters.

Scanning Electron Microscopy. Four semester hours, two hours lecture, six hours lab per week. Theory and practical application of the SEM, with an emphasis on specimen preparation and operation of the microscope. Course culminates with independent student projects. Prerequisites: graduate standing in a science major. Offered in spring semesters.
